::Beach Maes::

"Maes" is the Spanish word for "dude."

I've been theorizing about the nature of women. In San Jose (the capital) there are lots of inappropriate adds hanging up (typical of big cities). This is what I think: there are two natural desires women have. One is to be that beautiful Cinderella princess--to be desired for her beauty and she doesn't mind being the helpless damsel in distress so long as she can be loved and be admired. The second one is the rival to the first: the desire to be a kick-butt woman who can rival man in everything. The second wants to be just as mean, and carnal, and tough as man just to prove that she can. Neither is good. I don't think any woman really wants to be either of those things if she really thought about it.

Obviously, no woman SHOULD. I think, really, we want to be tough without being mean and nasty, and content with or without a man's jaw-dropped admiration. Really, being single has some great advantages: you get your whole self to yourself! You get to be whatever you want to be with no second part. Giving yourself completely to somebody else is kindof a terrifying thought.

Beach Maes

We had quite a bit of fun at the beach. I love beaches. I really don't care what I look like at a beach. Everyone looks awful. Beaches feel so much more private. It feels like the whole world is open to you through the ocean and no one can see you no matter how ridiculous or loud or silly you act. No one cares because they're in their own silly slice of the ocean that feels as big as their own corner of heaven.

Hannah and Matt had a chicken fight on Dad and James's shoulders, and we had a mud-ish fight (me and Matt were allies) which you can see below. We piled mud on James's back. We keep trying to make sand castles--(doesn't work, don't bother trying)--anyways, I told him he was gonna have sand-filled pants, but he had us do it anyway.

Moosa (above) is my favorite dog of all time. And I hate dogs.
